Sohrab Sharma, one of the founders of the Centra Tech project, plans to accept accusations against him of cheating investors during the ICO, Bloomberg reports .
Earlier, two partners of Sharma did the same thing - Robert Farkas and Raymond Trapani. Defendant's lawyers reported this to the New York District Judge. Thus, the trial scheduled for November will not take place.
As part of the campaign, the project raised $ 32 million to develop the Centra Card debit card. According to its creators, it made it possible to make purchases in cryptocurrency anywhere in the world that supports payments in Visa and Mastercard systems.
The company claimed that Centra Tech has licenses to work in 38 states, and its CEO was educated at Harvard and has 20 years of industry experience. Media support for the project was created by renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather and music producer DJ Khaled, who subsequently paid a fine totaling $ 767,500.
An investigation by the Ministry of Justice revealed that investors were misled, since all of the information was inaccurate.
Robert Farkas, who pleaded guilty to two episodes, faces a prison sentence of up to 87 months and a fine of $ 250,000. The sentence will be executed in October. What punishment threatens Sohrab Sharma is still unknown.
Recall that in June, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) achieved a temporary restraining order and freezing of assets against two brothers from Pennsylvania. They offered investors the securities of a private fund, which allegedly invested in cryptocurrencies.
