York University in Canada will launch two new educational programs on blockchain from September to meet the growing demand for specialists in this field.
York University, located in Toronto, announced the opening of two new educational programs on blockchain – an abbreviated and full course for graduate students. The new courses are aimed at meeting the growing demand for blockchain developers in Canada, especially in the Greater Toronto area, where it has grown by 374% over the past two years.
The two courses, which are due to start in September this year, will help students improve their skills and create a portfolio of blockchain developments. The shortened course will be fully online. The postgraduate course will also start online and then, depending on the health situation, may continue on campus.
Applications for courses are already being accepted, but the University has not yet specified the duration of training or the subjects taught in the program. In a statement, the University stressed that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has increased the demand for blockchain implementation and for specialists in this field.
Blockchain developers are really becoming more and more popular around the world. Earlier this month, China's Ministry of human resources and social security included blockchain-related professions in the list of officially recognized specialties.
In addition, in a Memorandum published in March by the US Department of homeland security (DHS), blockchain specialists were mentioned in the list of critical infrastructure workers.
