Film tells how the Winklevoss brothers made a fortune on cryptocurrency and how the conflict with Facebook helped them
Brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, who became the first crypto-billionaires in 2017, will make a film about their history. For this, the biographical book of Ben Mezrich "Bitcoin-billionaires" will be filmed. Work on the painting will be done by Stampede Ventures, owned by the former head of Warner Bros. Greg Silverman, reports Deadline .
Silverman will act as a producer. John Berg will take up the project with him. He worked on superhero blockbusters such as Aquaman and Wonder Woman. The writer Ben Mezrich is known for his book "involuntarily billionaires", in which he talks about the creators of the social network Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverina.
There is a connection between the Winklevoss family and Facebook. In 2004, the brothers sued the head of the company, Mark Zuckerberg. It was alleged that he stole their idea of creating a social network while studying at Harvard.
In 2018, Zuckerberg paid his brothers $ 65 million and $ 1.25 million in Facebook shares. Later, in 2013, Winklevoss invested about $ 11 million of the funds received in bitcoin. Then his rate ranged from $ 100 to $ 1,100.
The future film about the Winklevoss brothers is not the first film devoted to cryptocurrency. Films such as “Crypto” with Kurt Russell, “Drug”, “Ascent of Bitcoin” and others were also shot about digital money.
