Can You Make Money Just For Walking...? Nah, But, You Can Still Get Healthy

So, I turned 50 recently and like most guys that age, I headed off to the doctor for a check-up.  My Blood Pressure was just on the cusp of being high, so he gave me a month to look at it daily and see what it was over that time. If it was regularly high, he wanted me to go on meds.  So, along with this daily check, I decided to start walking more regularly and tracking my steps.  I was using the fitness app on my phone, but, it was a little boring, so I started looking into some other apps to make it more fun.

You might have guessed, I got bombarded with apps that said they would pay me to walk, just download the apps and watch the money poor in.   So, I put a folder on my phone and, along with some fitness apps I wanted to try out, I downloaded six of these "Pay For Steps" apps. Since I was really wanting to hit a certain amount of steps, it kept me motivated by going in an updating all these apps each day and tracking everything. Some of them were even actually fun to go on. I was probably spending thirty minutes a day on them.  A few of them said I had even earned 20 to 30 dollars in the first few weeks. This is where it got interesting, or scammy, however you want to say it.

When you tried to cash out, one of two things happened. The first was that you had to earn a secondary level before you could cash out, and guess what, you could never reach that level. So while my cash balance reached upwards of 50 dollars, there was never a way to cash it out. The other scam, was that before you could cash out, you had to make a TikToc video and send a screen shot of a 5 Star review on Google or the Apple App Store. I should also say, by this time, I had researched most of these apps and already realized almost none of them were ever going to pay out, even if you did jump through the their hoops.

This whole thing was not a total loss, some legit apps helped, and even the scams made it more fun to hit my goal of 12,000 to 15,000 steps a day and my BP is near normal now, as I have lost quite a few pounds, too.

If you want to try one, I have two that I did not delete. The first is Omada, just your basic health app, but, my insurance gave me a Wifi connected scale to use with the app, so t has been nice. The other one, I kept that does pay, is WeWard. Now, when I say pay, I mean about 2-3 dollars a month, at the most.  I kept it though, because it is more fun to log steps on this app than the legit fitness apps.  If you want to try WeWard, just search for it in the App Store and you can get a 1.50 bonus with this code BurningFish5559. After that it will take you about 4 or 5 months to make 10 dollars to cash out, so you have been warned you are not getting rich off any of these apps.
