I Was Never Rain
Without you, this weary land is drowning in my sorrow,
My heart is filled with yesterday, with no embrace tomorrow.
I was never rain, yet let me fall upon the weary heart,
To wash away its silent grief, to give its spring a start.
Within my chest, your quiet fire still wanders like a flame,
I hold the ashes of our dreams, still whispering your name.
I walk alone with memories no passing years can sever,
A thousand moments left behind, a love that lives forever.
Each corner of this city tells a story of your face,
Each road I take becomes a dream, each street recalls your grace.
And if the sun should leave my window, never to return,
I'll plant a hundred lights within my heart for you to burn.
When evening falls, loneliness comes softly to my door,
It sits beside my weary soul, as it has done before.
What can I do, my love, when silence fills the air?
I speak to stars about your eyes, and tell the moon I care.
Within the quiet of the night, I speak of love once more,
I tell the moon the things I never dared to say before.
Perhaps a breeze from where you are will find its way to me,
Perhaps my heart will dream again of what we used to be.
I waited for a moment's glance, a glimpse of you, a sign,
Like one small drop that dreams of oceans, longing to entwine.
If only you could understand, across this distant space,
A candle bearing your dear name still guards my heart's embrace.
Though walls of time have risen high between your world and mine,
Within my heart, a garden grows, where love and roses shine.
I dreamed with you of brighter days, of mornings soft and new,
I dreamed of building something beautiful, a world for me and you.
I wished to see an endless sky reflected in your eyes,
A universe of tenderness beneath our shared blue skies.
I wished to hold a single flower that you had placed in my hand,
And keep it as a promise that our hearts would understand.
But time had written other lines; the seasons had their say,
One road was paved with memories, one led our dreams away.
The story that I built with love, with hope and tender art,
Was left unfinished in the winding corridors of the heart.
I carry words I never spoke, a sorrow kept inside,
These tears are not the tears of weakness, nor a wounded pride.
They are the weight of loving deeply, more than words can tell,
The quiet toll of caring for a dream I knew so well.
What shall I say of love that never made me old,
Yet taught my tired and trembling heart a patience made of gold?
What shall I say of love that walked beside me through the pain,
And taught me not to fear the road, nor curse the falling rain?
Sometimes I tell my heart to leave this winding road behind,
To close the book of yesterday and give some peace to mind.
But reason never won the war that love began within,
For every time I turned away, your memory called again.
My reason said, “Forget her now; the past has had its day.”
My heart replied with trembling lips, “Love does not fade away.”
My reason offered me a path to freedom from the past,
But love led through the darkest night, where your memories last.
Between the voice of heart and mind, I sat alone and wrote,
A story stitched from all the dreams my restless spirit held.
One side of me still longs to meet you, see your face once more,
The other fears the fragile heart may break as once before.
And yet I never cast out love, nor locked it from my soul,
For kindness was the only light that ever made me whole.
Let rain descend upon the glass, upon this weary pane,
Perhaps a flower of hope will rise from every drop of pain.
Perhaps beyond the darkest night, the morning will appear,
Perhaps the heart will learn to live beyond the weight of fear.
Perhaps the grief of being parted will slowly lose its hold,
And turn into a story worth the telling when we're old.
I am a drop that dreams of oceans, vast and deep and blue,
And every beat within my chest still writes a line for you.
A drop that dares to leave itself may join the endless sea,
And find a world beyond the bounds of what it used to be.
And I, too, crossed the edge of grief, though slowly, day by day,
And planted flowers in the soil where sorrow used to stay.
I learned from clouds to give their rain without demanding praise,
To bless the lonely, distant earth and brighten hidden ways.
I learned from rivers not to stop when stones obstruct the stream,
For even roads that twist and turn can lead us to a dream.
I learned from nights that darkness keeps a secret of its own:
The smallest seed of morning waits where no bright stars are shown.
I learned that love is not a promise that all wishes will come true,
That leaving and remaining have their own meanings, too.
Sometimes the path we cannot walk reveals the roads within,
And sometimes losing what we love is where our lives begin.
Sometimes the deepest kind of faith is letting distance be,
And sometimes not possessing love is how the heart grows free.
I love you not to own your world, nor bind your wings to mine,
But for the beauty that you brought into this life of mine.
I love you though the road is long, though silence fills the air,
Though all I have of you today is memory and care.
But I will not allow my grief to steal my life away,
Nor let the light of future dawn be swallowed by yesterday.
I will not trade my life for sorrow, nor let my spirit fall;
I'll build a garden from the ashes, though the world seems small.
Despite the wounds that I have carried, still I draw a breath,
And keep a sacred spark of hope beyond the reach of death.
Each morning when I wake again and open up my eyes,
I look beyond the distant hills and greet the changing skies.
Perhaps the world is not the world I dreamed it would become,
But still the grace of life remains, and hope is not yet gone.
Perhaps a thousand knots will bind the road before my feet,
Perhaps the sea of grief will rise and make the waves retreat.
But I will not abandon hope because the journey's long,
Nor let the wind of hardship steal the music from my song.
I was never rain, but now I understand at last:
From tears, a garden can arise where thorns and grief were cast.
From pain, a bridge can reach tomorrow's bright and open door,
And from the darkest night, a window opens evermore.
Love need not be chains that bind; it can become a wing,
A freedom that lets wounded hearts remember how to sing.
From ashes, brighter fires rise, from silence, words take flight,
And from the deepest loneliness, the soul discovers light.
O Love, if all that's left of you is distance and goodbye,
My heart will still reflect the light of stars across the sky.
I never asked you for forever, nor riches without end,
I only wished for somewhere safe, a heart, a home, a friend.
One moment where your eyes could rest, where weary souls could stay,
One breath to lift the weight of life and wash the dust away.
But if that moment never comes, I will not close my door,
For love has taught my heart to give, and taught it something more.
Perhaps this road will make me wiser, softer in my ways,
And flowers will rise from sorrow's soil to greet the coming days.
Perhaps the world will hold more kindness because I knew this pain,
And broken hearts will find a shelter from the cold and driving rain.
I cannot bear to see a soul abandoned in the night,
A lonely heart without a hand, a stranger without light.
I've tasted separation's tears; I know how deep they run,
So I will reach for those who fall, as dawn reaches for the sun.
If someone walks beneath the weight of grief they cannot share,
Perhaps my words will be a lamp that tells them someone cares.
Perhaps this poem will find a heart in some forgotten place,
And offer it a moment's peace, a little warmth, a little grace.
I let my rain fall on the soil within my own heart's ground,
And plant the seeds of hope again where none could once be found.
If you never return to me, the world will still have spring,
And every open window holds the promise light can bring.
I am in love, and love has taught me who I am beneath,
It led me through the fields of pain to find a gentler peace.
If someone asks me what remains of all that I have known,
I'll say I came into this world through love, and love has grown.
I'll say that though the world is filled with sorrow and despair,
A little space for hope remains in every heart somewhere.
If a weary heart still beats, that heartbeat is enough;
If one small window lets in light, the road is not too rough.
For love is not a word alone, nor promises we say;
It is the hand that heals a wound, the kindness shown each day.
It is the shelter offered to a stranger in the rain,
The gentle voice that helps a soul find courage once again.
I walk a road that bends toward dawn, where new beginnings rise,
And gardens grow from barren earth beneath forgiving skies.
I no longer flee this weary land, nor fear the life I've known,
Nor live imprisoned by the past, afraid to stand alone.
Though separation still can leave a sadness in my chest,
A quiet lamp of hope remains, and gives my soul its rest.
I am a drop; the sea is vast, and still the waves roll on,
And somewhere in the darkest night, the seeds of dawn are sown.
Without you, this weary land may still be filled with sorrow,
But in my heart, a window stays, open to tomorrow.
I was never rain, yet let me fall upon the weary heart,
For love can make a garden bloom where broken dreams depart.
Let my tears awaken earth; let sleeping flowers grow,
Let dreams return to human hearts wherever cold winds blow.
Let every drop of rain carry a message, warm and clear:
No heart should have to face the world believing none are near.
From yesterday's deep sorrow, I will light tomorrow's flame,
And keep a thousand untold verses that still whisper your name.
Without you, this weary land may leave me grieving still,
But I shall rise to greet the dawn with an unbroken will.
I was never rain, yet now I know what love can do:
It turns the tears we shed alone to gardens wide and new.
And if the world must bloom again through all the storms we bear,
Then let me rain upon its heart, and leave my flowers there.
I was never rain, but let me fall where hearts are torn,
So gardens rise from grief, and hope is newly born.
Not only for your heart, my love, but for the world I see—
Let me rain with all my love, and set the wounded free.
