I've recently been trying to make profits using a grid bot. I coded it in Python and it's really simple. First, it fetches the price of whatever token it is trading. Then, as the price fluctuates over and under this "base price" it buys and sells in set increments. This is pretty effective when the price is just oscillating up and down, but in big uptrends it misses most of the profits and in big downtrends it loses a lot. To try and counter this, I implemented a stop loss so it exits if it has lost a set amount. I also made it calculate RSI, and use that to tighten or expand the "bands" at which it sells or buys. This helps it maximize profits in an uptrend. I was trading using small amounts, so gas was also eating into a lot of my profits. So, I added a function to fetch gas fees and only buy/sell if the gas fees were under a certain amount. Once everything was in place, I gave the bot 10 dollars of USDC and ran it for 2 hours. I made 30 cents, but then lost about 10 cents. The token the bot was trading was dropping quickly, but luckily my stop loss prevented the bot from losing its profits. Overall, it was a fun test, but I don't think it's profitable. I'm planning to make a more sophisticated bot soon to see how it compares.
