Well.... of course, it still stings a bit to see the whole crypto market splatter between 20-50 percent overnight! However, I'm a boring old long term "investor", and I have been diligently taking profits as certain price or portfolio targets have been triggered over the last few months. That means that I have seen some cryptos steadily march past the sale prices that I have dumped at market... but snipping out 1-5 percent every now and then is just a prudent form of hedging...
... of course, I still do feel like the potential for cryptocurrency, proper digitalisation and decentralisation of networks is still huge (especially given some recent experience selling the house...), but I am never going to put all the proverbial eggs in the same basket. Target sales have been put into stocks, treats (spending) and superannuation... whilst also holding back in case there an opportunity presents itself (new projects or crashes like this).
It is pretty boring in a bull market... just selling little bits every now and then, logging it all so that I know what targets have been already triggered, and allocating it to various pots for saving, treats or other plans.
So, when I woke up to this sort of chart... well, it is sort of met with child-like excitement! I have a war-chest of stablecoins to buy back in at prices that are seriously under what I had sold at... which gives the option of resetting the targets (buying back the crypto that I had sold), increasing positions (buying back a little bit more) and making some additional purchases! All of this whilst still retaining leftover stablecoins and the various allocations to super and little treats that I've purchased. It is like Christmas has come early... actually, it is just in time for the Dutch Sinterklaas!
So, that makes all the slow slow selling all worthwhile... and this morning was a moment of action... of purchasing and logging (resetting the targets). Just buying buying buying at market price.. of course, there is every chance that the market keeps crashing... but that doesn't matter too much, as I am still up in stablecoins/fiat out and have recovered or increased crypto holdings (denominated in crypto amounts).
As always, I'm happy that I don't play around with anything leveraged... futures/margin and leveraged tokens are getting slaughtered... which adds a bit to the chaos. There was a time when I would have been tempted to play around with this... perhaps a cheeky long with low to medium leverage to try my short term luck... but these days, I have no desire to play at the casino.
So... the big question this morning is... after recovering the previously sold cryptos (and increasing)... what additional new things should I go shopping for? Adding more DOT/ATOM is top of my list, the interoperable chains are of huge interest to me... some extra FTT and SOL doesn't go astray either!... RUNE and ARES are also there as potentially useful infrastructure projects. MINA was also another one that I wanted to stock up on... and the MX/GT/HT exchange tokens as well.... I might look into getting more MANA/SAND as well... that could be another interesting one for the future.
Anything else that I've missed? I don't want to deplete the war-chest... but it is SOOOO tempting at the moment!
