Mining cryptocurrencies has always seemed like a Herculean task to me - especially for someone who is still a newbie in the crypto world. When I started learning a bit more about what mining entails, I was scared my laptop won't be enough for it, let alone my phone. I thought I would always need something more powerful like a PC with a very expensive graphics card, and a server in a faraway country to support my mining. It didn't seem worth it, till I found Idena.
Not only does Idena let me mine on the same laptop I thought wasn't powerful enough, but they have also changed the game entirely. I can now mine on my phone every day, all day, and most importantly, even when I'm using it on a daily basis. You can mine on the go, too with the my Idena app which is currently available on Google Store and App Store.
This innovative approach is very much geared to new users of crypto like me, but also seasoned ones to earn extra money along with their expensive rigs. It is also important to understand that cryptocurrency is not only limited to a select group of people, now. It's spread globally and is now well-known across multiple countries. Governments use it as it is sometimes more reliable due to its anonymity.
But, perhaps of more interest, is that people from the Global South are also taking a deep interest in learning more about cryptocurrencies. Be it as a way to earn a universal basic income, or even as a way to invest money rather than perusing traditional banking structures. It is estimated that 3 billion people in the world have access to smartphones. The top three countries that lead these statistics are India, China, and the United States. It is important to note that China and India are growing economies with booming populations. Despite this, people in India have greater access to mobile phones than toilets in India, the UN reported.
This means that anyone in a remote corner in India can use their smartphone to mine a coin to earn a decent amount of money, per day. This can bring changes in people's lives and possibly, even improve their living standards. As a result, I feel compelled to tell you a bit more about the my Idena app and how it is changing the way we perceive mining.
My Idena is the mobile-version of the Idena client. RedDwarf and his team have built this app to make mining easier for those who don't currently possess a PC or a laptop. It does everything that the desktop Idena client does, and more. Along with accessing your identity via the app and Explorer, you can now access information about validation and flips. The app makes excellent use of space and explains what good flips and bad flips are. Here is a screenshot for context:

Secondly, they have also implemented a demo validation session. For most newbies to Idena, a Proof-of-Person project, validation is a very new concept. Most seasoned users of cryptocurrency are used to Proof of Work or Proof of Stake, and since this project is first of its kind, some people find it hard to understand how to use validation to their strength, especially if you have no one to guide you. No need to worry about that, anymore as RedDwarf and his team have brought a sample validation to you. The demo comes equipped with a short session, a long session, and a qualification session. This is an excellent way to prep yourself before validation day.
Lastly, what makes mining on the Idena Network even more attractive is that there are no upfront costs involved. All you need is the app, and you're set to start mining from day 1. It's the unique selling point of Idena, and in my opinion, will always remain so.
This app and concept of mining on smartphones are still new, but it isn't a trend worth overlooking. Phones might not be able to mimic the power of a PC or a good and expensive laptop, but they make cryptocurrencies more accessible for everyone around the world. The more accessible crypto is, the more likely it is to become the currency of the future.
