Yesterday, I tried to contact customer service in order to cancel my Internet account. However, being a Sunday, nobody answered. I would have done it through their app, but I was denied access since my phone number was grey listed. Today, I went to the company's store at the nearest mall to me, to cancel my Internet account. The representative there said that I had to call customer service from the number in question, since they are unable to do cancellations in the store. Well, that was a waste of fuel and time, since I could have done that from home. At least I found and bought a decent office chair while I was there, for less than I expected to pay, though.
I ended up on hold for about an hour before I even managed to speak to somebody, who then put me on hold again. Eventually, I did manage to find out the amount due and bank details so that I could pay. However, my bank's online banking Website won't let me pay the outstanding amount, despite the fact that I can afford to. It keeps showing an error stating "Invalid reference; please enter your phone number as the reference", despite the fact that I am entering my phone number as a reference. (I seem to recall having this exact issue before, which is why I ended up going to the mall and paying in store.) So much for asking, "How can we help you?"
I'm probably going to have to go back to the store at the mall in order to pay and settle my account. Going by how things have gone before, I have my doubts that getting the issue resolved will be that simple. It might just be easier to pay the balance and keep the contract. What a waste of my time and energy while I'm trying to get other things done!
Technology's supposed to make life easier, but it just ends up making mine more difficult and frustrating!
