The No Turning Point

The No Turning Point

To best begin the introduction of this post I'd better ask you guys, how many of you are checking crypto prices in your own native currency on a daily basis, considering that you're not a native American. I know I don't do that, although once in a while I get to see how much one BTC is worth in RON(Romanian national currency), mostly accidentally.

To further paint the picture of the value of one BTC in my country I'll let you know that you can buy a one bedroom apartment in my hometown with one BTC right. That's something, I know.

I do check the prices of cryptos every day and I also opt for the dollar valuation. I'm accustomed with those pairings. The dollar has depreciated against my national currency though and against the euro as well, and I remember that during the 2017 bull market, quite a few crypto influencers and entrepreneurs weren't even referring to $ when closing contracts and hiring people or shilling their private groups or paid newsletters.

If I'm not mistaking, Binance was paying its staff with cryto back then and there were a lot of talks in the crypto sphere of people who would opt for their monthly wages to be paid in BTC or other well established cryptocurrency rather than fiat money.

I haven't heard of anyone though willing to be paid in crypto during the bear market. I guess the euphoria triggering such decisions is completely missing during such times. I was wondering though, how many of you would choose at this point to be paid solely in crypto. Whether the owners of a small businesses or simple employees, would you make that change for ever?

I'm not referring here to a speculative short term period change, but to have your income settled in crypto and to receive that amount for as long as you have your contract, or until you get a raise :) I am curious how many crypto maximalists are willing to switch to crypto payments forever considering that they're day time employees.

I know I would. I am unemployed currently, but if my monthly loan would be settled in BTC or ETH, or even LTC, at current prices, I would definitely opt for that and be confident about the fair value I'd get for my work. Yes, for the moment one would still need to exchange crypto to fiat for everyday expenses but I'm actually pointing at income not spending.

I have the feeling though that not too many crypto enthusiasts would switch tracks. The reasoning for that is the dollar valuation that they consider for their work and that tells a lot about how faithful they are in crypto... If I'll get to ever live off of blogging I'm 100% that I'm actually embracing an income in the form of crypto actually.

Many are still afraid of volatility I guess, and the decoupling from traditional currencies to the risky currencies of the future is not greased yet. Hence the dollar mentality is alive and well in the crypto world. Switching to a crypto income would be a no turning back point, one that I would eyes closed embrace.

I've lived through a bear market, my first one actually, I'll survive the future one for sure, and get out of it even more experienced than I was during the past one. Some have families to provide for, mortgages and credits, and the risk of volatility is definitely not an option, but long term I'd say opting out of fiat and opting into crypto is the better option.

With the next stimulus coming to Americans, that just got pushed by Donald Trump, it's easier than ever to realize how corrupt governments and financial systems are and how weak they've become. We should thank Corona for that... Until then...

Thanks for attention,
Adrian
