As Bitcoin smashes one ATH after another and soars past $20,000 like there's no tomorrow, I get the incentive to talk BTC with my real life friends and acquaintance more often. Unfortunately I don't own any, because I am a too altcoin fanatic, but le point de reference in crypto talks is always BTC.
Most of the discussions are gravitating around the price, as most of the hype around it is somehow triggered by the cost of one BTC. Very few are excited about the core fundamentals for Bitcoin and overlooking the price by all means. Even large whales who have a longer term view than plankton and minnow are still valuating it in dollars. Sats matter less for now.
One question that I get quite often when discussing the coin with no coiners is: why should I pay $20,000 for this digital currency and what makes it unshakable to a ground floor price depreciation. Exactly, why?...
Well, for the moment, my take is that the value of BTC is pure speculative as it doesn't do too much in the world, besides a few store of value and wealth transfer use cases. It has what it takes to become the digital gold, but is it yet? I don't know...
What I do know, is that it's indeed the pioneer for a one decade old technology that is on the cusp to basically revolutionize the world, it has proved to have one of the most secure networks as such, and immutability is another adjective that would fit it perfect. There's much more potential around Bitcoin right now than there's intrinsic value imo.
Hence, what would you answer when someone asks you about the core value of BTC? What makes it a $20,000+ asset and why would you advise anyone to invest in it atm. What's The Intrinsic Value of "The Coin" for the moment in your own opinion and based on your own experience with it?
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
