How to Transfer Crypto Funds from A to B

Here’s a step-by-step on how to transfer your funds.

To move your funds from an exchange to a wallet (A to B), do the following:

1.) Go to the wallet you are looking to send the coins to (we'll call this wallet, "B"). Find the coin and click “receive”. It will give you your public address which is a string of letters and numbers. Copy this.

2.) Go to the exchange with the coins you are looking to send (we’ll call this exchange, "A", for clarity's sake) and find your wallet or portfolio.

3.) Find A's “withdraw” option for the specific coin you want to withdraw. Each exchange is different, and some are more intuitive than others. Read up on your exchange’s FAQ for specific instructions if you have trouble.

4.) Paste the coin’s receive address from B (the exact one you copied from step 1) into A where is says “address”. Make sure you are withdrawing the correct coins correlating to the correct address.

5.) Triple check the address is correct. Every time you transfer your funds, triple check the coin's receive address is the exact one you copied from your wallet (B). Aside from human error fudging up this process, scammers have been known to be able to intercept a copied address and insert their own, so you paste their address and send your funds to them. Always triple check to mitigate these risks.

If your exchange asks, add the address to your address book if you’d like more security the next time you are trying to do this specific coin transfer from A to B. (Note: this address is only for *receiving* this specific coin on this particular wallet. Any other types of coins sent to this address will be lost unless noted otherwise (for example, some wallets are Ethereum-based and don’t require a separate public address for Ethereum-based coins)).

6.) If you’re transferring more than $500 (or whatever amount you’re comfortable with) I recommend doing a small test first. Send a small amount to your wallet (B)’s coin address - MAKE SURE YOU ARE SENDING TO THE CORRECT COIN. Hit the send button.

7.) Once you see it arrive in your wallet, complete the process above with the rest of your funds.

8.) Observe your funds in your wallet.

To move your funds from your wallet back to an exchange (B back to A), do the following:

1.) Go to the wallet you are looking to send the coins from (we’ll keep calling this B). Find the coin and click “send”.

2.) Go to the exchange containing the coins you are looking to send (we’ll keep calling this A) and find your exchange wallet, balances, or portfolio (depending on your exchange's terminology).

3.) Find A’s “deposit” option for the specific coin you want to deposit. It will give you your public address which is a string of letters and numbers. Copy this.

4.) Paste the coin’s deposit address from A (the exact one you copied) into B where it says send “address”.

5.) Triple check the address is correct. Every time you transfer your funds, triple check the address is the exact one you copied from your wallet. The same risks as above apply. Always triple check to mitigate those risks.

If your wallet asks, add the address to your address book if you’d like more security the next time you are trying to do this specific coin transfer from B to A. (Note: this address is only for *sending* this specific coin from this particular wallet. Any other types of coins deposited to this address will be lost unless noted otherwise.)

6.) If you’re transferring more than $500 (or whatever amount you’re comfortable with), I recommend doing a small test first. Send a small amount to the coin’s deposit address on the exchange (A) - MAKE SURE YOU ARE SENDING TO THE CORRECT COIN. Hit the send button.

7.) Once you see it arrive in A, complete the process above with the rest of your funds.

8.) Observe your funds in your wallet.

To move your funds from one wallet to another, do the following:

1) Find the coin you want to send in the wallet where your funds are located (we'll call this Wallet A). Click the coin's "send" button.

2.) Open the wallet you are using to receive your funds (we'll call this Wallet B), and click the coin you are receiving.

3.) Find the coin's "receive" button (or general address, depending which wallet you are using - check the wallet's FAQ if you are confused which address is the coin's receive address) and click it to reveal your coin's wallet receive address, a long string of random numbers and letters. This is the address you are sending funds to. Copy this address.

4.) Go back to Wallet A. Paste the receive address you copied into the space where it says send "address". Double and triple check that the address is correct (to avoid human error and malware hacks as mentioned above).

5.) In the space provided, indicate the amount you would like to send.  If you are sending a lot of money from A to B, I recommend sending a small test first to make sure everything goes smoothly. Hit the send button.

6.) Once you see the funds in Wallet B, send the full amount.

7.) Observe your funds in your wallet.

While it’s really not hard to move your funds, that doesn’t make it risk-free. We are our own banks and anything can happen. I trust this guide helps you keep your funds secure while moving them around. Let me know your thoughts or message me with any questions and I’ll do my best to help.
