Herring Gull in the Air, by Nick

This was taken in New York City with my Nikon telephoto lens, at 116 mm.

I know, it kind of looks like a hawk.  It is a herring gull, and they are EVERYWHERE in New York these days!  It is a

relatively new phenomenon; one used to have to go to Jones Beach or Riis Park to see them.  Not anymore!  New

York is cleaner than ever these days.  So, let us all keep doing what we are doing.  (Of course, a big downside to

New York being cleaner is it is now expensive as expensive can be.

City Bird

Talk about a lucky shot here!  300 mm focal length

More to come!

I am a photographer, musician, and a writer, in no particular order. I loved my turtle.

Herring Gulls (and other birds)
Herring Gulls (and other birds)

I took several photos for the Audubon Photography awards. No, I did not win, and it was my first time in the contest anyway. Well, wait till next time. And seeing the photos that did win, I can tell you the winners deserved it. Anyway, Herring Gulls are awesome. People associate New York City with pigeons, but just go to the Hudson River, East River, or Battery Park and you will see a diversity! Since birds are my thing when it comes to photography, I created a special blog just for them.
