The road of holiness is paved in the blood of the faultless Son of God. Jesus freely surrendered his life to redeem
the souls of those that were criminals according to the law of God. Through his sacrifice, Christ purged the hearts and consciences of the repentant. The Spirit of the messiah engraves the law of God in the core of those that turn to him. The result of the cross is men that their creator can live in and through.
If anyone believes in their innermost that they have offended someone unjustly, they will find it difficult, if not impossible to approach the one that they have wronged. I discovered that a close friend of mine stole money from me. The spirit of Christ convinced me to forgive him, clearing the offense from my mind, enabling me to love him as if it never happened. This prodded my friend’s conscience causing him to feel guilty for his actions. At this point, he had two avenues to gain emotional relief, either stop visiting me or seek forgiveness. Fortunately, he confessed his thievery to me. Then I told him that I forgave him when I realized what he did to me. From that moment on a bond was forged that was greater than our previous friendship. Through the blood of Jesus man is forgiven for his wrong actions before God, making it possible for a man to be with his creator without guilt.
A clean conscience is easy toward God through confession and receiving divine mercy, however, it is a lot easier for a man’s heart to feel guilty again before his creator, through doing evil again. We are like sponges with one another in that we can absorb behavioral characteristics, by just spending time together. In my youth, I spent an enormous amount of time with a young lady. We parted company for about 20 years. When we spent time catching up with each other’s lives we were shocked to find out that we still had a life’s view that was identical. We spent so much time together in our youth that it framed a large portion of our lives years later. This is where the term” he is rubbing off on you” comes from. As one spends getting to know God through spending time with God to become more like him. After 20 years of being apart, we were still in one accord.
If you are not in accord with God you are in discord with him. Two can not walk together in life unless they are agreed. If you invite someone to live in your house, and he is in disagreement with how you live, eventually he will move out. It is this way with a man and Christ. If you invite Jesus in your heart, the only way that he is going to stay is that you make your heart a Holy habitation where he will live.
