This article intends to brings together two projects that I am excited about, and so I want to share the wealth with more of you out there. I recently learned of xDai and xDai Stake in a defi chat on the Status App, so I had to investigate. You can access the xDai chain in Metamask, but I am not going to focus on that here and now. I'll focus on how to get it done in the Status App. 

The xDai chain is fast, and the fee's are low, making this rather attractive after paying $12-17 on Eth for a transaction. Furthermore, it might require several transactions in order to place your stake. I recommend reading thru some of the information on the xDai link above if you have questions, or want to learn more. There are some valuable assets on xDai chain, like the burner wallet, and HoneySwap.

Another useful tool is the omni bridge. This will allow you transfer assets between the Mainnet and the xDai chain, including erc-20 tokens. 

Now to do this in the Status App. 

For starters your going to need some Eth for gas fee's to make the transfer. Once you get on the xDai chain the gas fee's are considerably less (like .01-.05), and they are paid in xDai, so you won't need Eth in your wallet for gas. 

Go to the browser in the Status App and paste the address for the https://bridge.xdaichain.com/ and connect your wallet. Here you can send your Dai to the xDai chain where it will convert to xDai. In order to access your xDai wallet you will have to switch networks in the Status app. To do that you will navigate to the profile tab and scroll down to the advances menu. Click on Network at the top and change to xDai. You may need to add the network under custom:

Network name: xDai

RPC URL: https://xdai.poanetwork.dev

ChainID: 100

Symbol: xDai

Block Explorer URL: https://blockscout.com/poa/xdai

You will need to sign in to your account again, if you have the keycard you will have to use the card to sign in again. Switching back to the mainnet will require a sign as well, so be prepared. 

Now that you are on the xDai chain you can go to the Status browser and go to HoneySwap or many of the other helpful web apps available. I recommend returning to the https://www.xdaichain.com/ site for the helpful content there.
