I thought I would share an observation I have made over the last couple of weeks. Honestly, I am not really sure why it is as I have observed. But maybe we can use the hive mind to figure it out together. =)
Lookie, lookie, I got lucky?
Over the last couple of weeks, I have primarily stuck to playing a budget aggro war deck in ranked. I have had a handful of mage and deception games as well. But compared to the war deck they get dwarfed by comparison. Also, I have not edited my deck in any way whatsoever. This is probably one of the key reasons for my observation, at least if I am to make a guess.
And what is this thing I have observed but yet failed to mention? It is when I win my games. As I actually, contrary to common beliefs, do win games. At least from time to time. I have for the vast majority of time been in the rank Auric Gold. I think I might have been able to climb up twice, but pretty sure I instantly lost all games and dropped down again to Auric Gold. And finally, we will get to the when. If you see the rankomiter or whatever it is you like to call the progress bar thingy. Over the last couple of weeks, I tend to have way better odds at winning games when I have little progress on the bar. The more it fills up the more counter decks I face and ultimately I lose more games.
Sure I have not racked up a ton of games, and I have played some of them earlier as well. But I am fairly confident that this is somewhat of an accurate record of the deck and my piloting skills with it. In a sense, I feel like I am going to describe what I have observed in another way. It would be this, the ranking mechanism of the game is very certain of my competitive rank with this deck compared to the current meta. And that of course brings me to these questions;
- Is this something you have been able to observe as well?
- How high win percentage does one need in order to climb in the ranking?
- Is it due to me playing the same unchanged deck over and over, or is it a feature of the low player count in the game currently?
I would love to hear your thoughts on these questions as well as any other questions you might have after sharing my observation. Please feel free to type away in the comment section below.
