The year was 1959 and the United States thought they could get away with placing nuclear weapons in Turkey aimed at Russia. Now, you might think "big deal, the United States has nuclear weapons in Italy, the Netherlands and also Turkey now as well." Ahh, here we kick off the first key criteria the freedumb media or internet goofys calling for WW3 can't explain: These are primarily nuclear bombs carried by war planes. The nuclear weapons we are talking about in the 1950/60s in Turkey were ballistic nuclear missiles. The difference? Ohhh, just a slight 20000% less reaction time for the targeted country from the moment of launch. That's an odd way to measure time I know, it's just an average of the F16 speed in relation to some of the fastest ballistic missiles in Nato service. If we were to measure it up to speeds of the Avangard ballistic missile, the reaction time for Nato would be much, much less.
So the key difference is time. The time a country has to respond and defend against such an attack and simultaneously launch a counter attack. This is why and when the "Cuban missile crisis" started. I always type that using air quotes, no one preaches to me what a "crisis" is or what a "democratic uprising" is. Cause that's what they are calling the current one you know, no one calls it the "Ukraine crisis". Either way, diplomacy failed back then, so Moscow decided to respond in kind, by placing similar nuclear missiles in Cuba. They had the first few shipments already unloaded and set up, near the end of it the United States realized what was happening and decided to react.
Monologue of a sociopath convention
We will never truly know what Washington was thinking and saying behind closed doors at the time when they uncovered the missiles and thought up their plan, but I imagine it to be close to something like this:
Oh now that can't happen! Who do these Russians think they are? Going around the world endangering it by placing their nuclear weapons everywhere. Gawd, if only they were as humane and thoughtful like we are huh? What to do now?
- Let's block it Mr President.
Block what?
- Cuba, it's an island right? Let's use our warships to block Cuba off from the Russian ships coming in carrying the nuclear missiles.
But they didn't do that to our ships doing the same in Turkey, plus that would be a severe breach of the international maritime laws.
- Since when have we cared about laws, either domestic or abroad Mr President?
By golly, you are right son, but what about the global condemnation for breaking international law and freedom of navigation we always preach about and abuse to get close to shores and taunt them Eirabs?
- We'll just have Reuters and CNN report that we are doing it to defend the entire world from nuclear obliteration. What do they know who started what.
Alright genius, great cover up, you sure are good at this huh? I mean you could cover up the real reasons for a president's murder and divert the attention to some vague made up story couldn't you ?
- (Evil smile) Funny you should ask.
Why?
- Not now, let's get through this first.
Why we lived to see another day
This, and only this is the reason the world could have ended in 1962. The United States liked the idea of having high speed ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads installed thousands of kilometers away from their own borders, but when they got a return to sender kinda thing decided to take the world to the brink of destruction. So why didn't it happen? Because the political savages who play "chicken" with the lives of billions of people understand only one language: Brute force. All of a sudden diplomacy and the prospect of removing the nuclear missiles in Turkey was a possibility. Gosh, go figure, and it only took the end of all things for it to happen. So, the US removed their missile and the Russian ships went home and the already installed material was taken down and returned as well over the course of time. This wasn't the last close call though, there was the Norwegian rocket incident in 1995, but for the sake of not overdoing it and keeping it short I'll just link that one, but like to stress one thing: If something like the 'Black Brant Scare' were to happen today, under these high alert, maximum readiness circumstances, it would literally be the end for 95% to 99.99% of all life on this planet.
There were numerous wars involving both the US or Russia before this, so why go nuclear now?
The United States in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Russia in Georgia and both of them in Syria, so why is there this nuclear risk now? First off, I'll let you in on a little secret: This very same risk was there 5 years ago as well. What you think would happen if Russian protected bases and regions were attacked by the US missile attack ordered by Trump back in 2018? In case you missed it, the final words of the Russian ministry of defense were "our men, our material are present at some of the designated attack sites, if any attack is launched at them, our air defenses will engage and a counter attack will immediately take place against the home bases of where these attacks originated from." The Russian protected locations were taken off the US, French and English lists, to much dismay of their terror boys on the ground.

Another thing I noticed back then in 2018 and can compare to now, is that those missiles on Syria were "stunning" and bringing democracy. These missiles on Ukraine are just "deadly" and striking civilians. Just to explicitly highlight the hypocrisy, both these headlines are from the same media i.e. Fox news.

So why again now, it's just Ukraine against Russia right? Why the prospect of a nuclear war? I can get into the detailed specifics of both facts and theories, but can also quickly summarize it by using two headlines for those looking for the short answer:

Well now, that would make this the first war in human history where one side would lose, without ever having been "apart" of that war. Some agree, some might disagree and claim Nato has nothing to do with this war, but if we can all agree on one thing it should be this: The Cuba/Turkey scenario unfolded in 1962, the Brant Scare about 33 years later in 1995. The Syria close call was 23 years later in 2018 and now just 4 years later we have the Ukraine war, where under the current circumstances it is just a matter of time till the next close call (or final call) occurs. Meaning the time in which these close calls occur is increasingly getting shorter and shorter. With the cancellation of the INF treaty (United States-Russia agreement to quit making and testing mid-ranged ballistic or cruise missiles) you remember, the kind they placed against each other in Turkey and Cuba, the clock is now closer to doomsday than ever before.🕚
If you're interested in quickly understanding missile/warfare treaties, I once made a short summary video about it and re-uploaded it on Odysee.
