The US treasury has actually claimed people around the world using DeFi such as DEXes or other non-censurable crypto dApps is "a threat" to their national security. I know, it's as stupid as it gets yet here we are.
It's from the same old tired worn out playbook these degens always use when desperately trying to justify authoritarianism and incite fear into people that just don't know any better. Staying true to the Iraq comparison, I'm old enough to remember people were actually afraid Saddam could launch a missile attack on English or US soil. To portray how dumb this fear actually was, Iraq was almost light years behind missile technology when compared to even other countries in the region, whom most of which could also not carry out intercontinental missile attacks, but the most astounding fact is that the only chemical attacks Iraq ever did carry out (both in the 1980's and early 2000's) was done so by use of (mainly) US supplied substances. But who cares about al that, be afraid, be veeeeery afraid, decentralized crypto could leave a giant mushroom cloud in what was once your city. So you'd better sit back and shut up as we bend and break the law beyond all boundaries and write up some more restrictive rules. But most of you probably already guessed that that's what their call for "tougher regulations" and "enforcement action" meant.😉
Then there's this part here on "Illicit actors, including criminals, scammers, and North Korean cyber actors are using DeFi services in the process of laundering illicit funds.” Wait, they're playing the North-Korea card on us again? First they came for Tornado Cash....
In closing, I'm not about to pay the 'Wall Street Journal' a single sat to read the full/paid article, call it a moral issue after all the shameless and borderline psychopathic propaganda they spewed out over the years.
Racist much?
