I have a confession to make
Like many people I would love to own Bitcoin
I understand why millions of people around the world are fascinated by it
I understand why some call it digital gold
And if Im being honest I would be happy to own some Bitcoin myself one day
Yet despite all of that there is one question that I have never been able to ignore
A question that has nothing to do with Bitcoins price or future potential
My question is about energy
The more I learn about Bitcoin the more I find myself thinking about the enormous amount of energy required to keep the network running
And that is where my mind stops
I can understand energy being used for hospitals
I can understand energy being used for transportation communication scientific research and even artificial intelligence because I can clearly see the benefits they bring to peoples lives
But when it comes to BitcoinI still havent found an answer that completely satisfies me
If something requires such a massive amount of energy to survive what exactly are we receiving in return?
This is not an attack on Bitcoin
In factif I believed Bitcoin had no value I would not spend my time thinking about it
The reason this question exists is because I do see value in it
Perhaps that is what creates the conflict in my mind
On one side I can see why Bitcoin matters to so many people
On the other I struggle to look past the cost required to maintain it
Maybe the answer strongly favors Bitcoin
What interests me most is not the answer itself but the question
Because before we talk about price predictions profits or the future of Bitcoin I think it is worth asking:
How much value is enough to justify such a level of energy consumption?
I do not have a definitive answer
And perhaps that is exactly why I keep searching for one
