Since eight years old,
I’ve become afraid of the dark.
Also been repeatedly told,
Never go alone to the park.
Now many years older,
Just completed my education.
But I’m not any bolder,
Forever taking precaution.
Fearful is always my mind
Drummed in by my parents.
Well, that’s really unkind ---
What an awful experience!
Was changed from a winner,
Easily what I could’ve been,
To become a prisoner,
Before the real world is seen,
