I’m on a train ride,
Going to take eight hours.
Here with my best friend,
Returning to the town of ours.
Chugging along slowly,
In here, can’t rest much.
There’s refreshing scenery,
Lots of trees, green and lush.
Grey outlines of mountains,
Clear our minds of grief.
Focus on their peaks,
Though attention is brief.
This trip wasn’t planned,
But to be back, there’s reason ---
The death of our old principal,
Have us head toward the horizon.
