As I lay in bed
The warmth envelops;
Tiredness comes in waves
Washing away hopes.
I close my eyes
Concentrate on the darkness;
Take shallow breaths
Future seems bleakest.
Counting sheep 98, 99, 100
Sleep won't claim me;
Though tired to the core
It hurts to the max degree.
As the minutes turn to hours
And dark turns light;
Birds chirp outside the window
Lethargy I continue to fight.
