I recently found an app called Ember, and what caught my attention was how simple it sounded: download the app, activate it once every 24 hours, and start collecting fractions of Bitcoin. Why is it free? The company trying to increase traffic and usage.
Before anything else, understand this is not real Bitcoin mining. Ember uses a mining simulator inside the app, so don’t expect your phone to suddenly become a mining machine or drain your battery.
What you do earn are satoshis, also called “sats”, which are fractions of Bitcoin. The process is simple. Once the simulator is activated, the app starts accumulating satashis over time. It’s completely passive after that until the next activation period.
And what really makes it more appealing is its referral system. If you invite friends and they activate their own mining simulator, both sides benefit with additional sat rewards (+10 sats/hr for each friend mining alongside with you and you could earn up to 500 sats per hour.
Now, to be clear: this isn’t a replacement for investing, building a business, or learning valuable skills. The amounts are small. But that’s also why I think it’s interesting.
If someone is curious about Bitcoin and wants a zero-cost way to start collecting tiny amounts while learning how the ecosystem works, this feels like a way to begin. That’s personally how I’m approaching it.
I’m testing it, seeing how much actually accumulates over time, and eventually I want to share my real results — whether it’s worth using, how much I earned, and if I’d keep using it long term. If you decide to try it too, go in with realistic expectations… and treat every sat as a bonus. Enjoy!
