It's curious to think that if we go back a few years, nobody would have had any idea that AI would become such a central topic worldwide, to the point where countries would be competing for essential resources to create large data centers. Even if we think back to just a few months ago, the progress was far less than what we have today.
In the beginning, many only heard about the company behind ChatGPT, OpenAI, which started with the goal of making Artificial Intelligence technology available to everyone, in the same way as open-source software, hence the name OPEN AI. However, with increased investment, a shift occurred in the company's initial core vision, and they began to restrict the system and now charge for access to the company's main AI models.
The big difference is that now we are hearing much more about AI, many more companies are participating in this market, many more countries are interested in the subject, and overall liquidity has never been greater. A major event that marked this sector was the arrival of Deep Seek, an AI that, if I'm not mistaken, was created by a Chinese company as open source, something that OpenAI set out to do but didn't. When this company arrived and achieved considerable results with low investment, the market suffered its first shock; it's possible to do it in a more cost-effective way.
The problem is that until recently, the AI industry was heavily dependent on NVIDIA graphics cards and RAM to process information. However, Google announced that they are developing a new component for this processing, which caused the stock prices of several companies linked to graphics cards to fall, as this dependence—this high demand without sufficient supply, which ultimately dried up the liquidity of parts from other markets—would no longer exist.
I'll be much appreaciated if you Votes, Reblogs or give any Tips. Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
Jobs vs. AI
After this context, we can see that the whole world is in a race to develop AI that is more powerful than its competitors. While Google develops a completely new technological component, Deep Seek is taking a risk by making its technology open source, and in the midst of all this we also have the emergence of autonomous agents like those from OpenClaw.
All of this means that companies and countries are betting heavily on a new industrial revolution now led by artificial intelligence; that is, they are almost going all-in on the idea that the future will be highly dependent on AI to the point of potentially laying off a large portion of a company's workforce, as happened a few days/hours ago with Oracle, which laid off between 10,000 and 30,000 employees, including some who had been with the company for over 20 years.
Did they consider that these employees with 20+ years of experience are key because they understand, in a REAL way and not ARTIFICIALLY, how the company works, understand the business rules, and have human interactions with suppliers and customers? We have reached the point where perhaps only the employees capable of overseeing the results of AI will remain, but with that, there will no longer be junior employees to learn from seniors, and human skills may end up becoming a new trend.
