Ethereum (ETH) Merge is quickly approaching. The first step will be only in a few days, on Sept. 6. If you are wondering about the risks, you should read this excellent article that I have put in the references below, at the end of the article. Among these risks, the following ones need to be highlighted:
If enough nodes fail, Ethereum could temporarily halt. There also exists execution risks for applications or exchanges running on top of Ethereum.
What does it mean?
1) Do not leave any funds on Ethereum mainnet, or on Ethereum layer-2 chains like Arbitrum or Optimism, or on Ethereum sidechains like Polygon, that you could shortly need... Because if Ethereum halts, you will not be able to access your funds for a few hours or days... Nobody knows...
2) Do not leave your funds on DeFi protocols like lending platforms, e.g., Aave, or liquidity pools of decentralized exchanges, e.g., Uniswap... Because if there is any problem in the execution of these applications, your funds might be lost.
Happy Merge to everyone!
