Recently, I received an email from Medium notifying me of my account's suspension. My heart sank as I read the message, my mind racing with questions. What could I have done wrong? Had I violated any of Medium's community guidelines?
After careful examination of the email, I discovered that my account was suspended for failing to comply with Medium's rules regarding cryptocurrencies. Specifically, I had violated two policies:
- Using an anonymous email address not linked to my project domain.
- Advertising or promoting airdrops or related activities without being an authorized representative of the project.
As a writer who enjoys exploring the intersection of technology and finance, I had been writing articles about cryptocurrencies, airdrops, and the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. However, I had never intended to violate any of Medium's policies. I had always made it clear that I was not affiliated with any specific project and that my articles were my own personal observations and opinions.
Despite my intentions, I understood Medium's position. They have a responsibility to ensure that their platform is not used to promote scams or misleading information. I also recognized the importance of transparency when discussing cryptocurrencies, especially airdrops, which can be complex and often involve the exchange of real money.
With a heavy heart, I decided not to appeal my suspension. While I was disappointed to lose access to my Medium account, I respected Medium's decision and understood their need to maintain a high standard of quality and integrity.
I'm now exploring other platforms where I can share my thoughts on cryptocurrencies and DeFi. In the meantime, I'll continue to follow the news and developments in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.
