If you missed the Arbitrum airdrop, you may have looked at the potential future airdrops and read a lot of stuff about zkSync and Polygon zkEVM. However, after a while, you've discovered that you had to invest in each of these networks in order to potentially get eligible to their potential airdrops...
Another way to get potential airdrops is to use some testnets. The advantage is that it is totally free of charge. The drawback is that there are tons of testnets currently, and hence you can waste your time trying each of them. So you need to be selective and focus on the big ones.
Among the big testnets, there is Coinbase Base Testnet, which is a layer-2 built on top of Ethereum by using Optimism substack. Although Coinbase has not confirmed they will make an airdrop, there is a good probability that they will do so. And on top of that, each of the new protocols appearing on this testnet can itself make an airdrop...
There are several ways to get eligible to this potential airdrop:
- To mint an NFT - just download Coinbase wallet extension and follow the instructions that you may find through Google if not through Coinbase
- To create a smart contract / token - a bit more technical, but there are good tutorials... On a side note, I created a token called LYK, see below
- To use the first dapps (decentralized applications) on Base testnet - e.g., the DEX (decentralized exchange) CBSWAP, which is like Uniswap
Please note: To do all these tasks, you will need some ETH, that you can get free of charge on Base Testnet by using Coinbase wallet and link below!
