Italy is the first Western country to ban ChatGPT. Officially, it relates to data protection issue. However, the only countries which previously banned ChatGPT are Iran, China, North Korea and Russia. Therefore, this decision raises some concerns, although OpenAI has the opportunity to get back to the Italian regulator to fix the identified issues.

An alternative option is Google's AI Bard for 18+ only... Otherwise, ChatGPT still works through VPN in Italy - e.g., through Opera browser. It will be more than challenging for governments to ban Artificial Intelligence...
