I’ll be honest, the idea of making gasless trades on Ethereum sounded too good to be true. But I gave it a shot using Velora and actually pulled it off — swapped tokens without paying any gas fees. My goal was to get GHO, which has now become the gas token for Lens Chain, a social layer developed by the Aave team.
To tell you everything, Velora makes gasless swaps on Ethereum possible by using a system where users express their trade intent, and multiple solvers compete to execute those trades in the most cost-efficient way. This means you can swap tokens without paying gas fees upfront — instead, the solvers handle the transaction costs behind the scenes, often bundling multiple trades together to save on fees. It’s pretty neat because it lets you trade directly from your wallet without needing ETH for gas, making the whole process feel smoother and more accessible.
After the swap, I used the Across bridge to move my GHO over to Lens Chain. Everything went through without a hitch, which felt pretty satisfying considering how new everything still feels in that ecosystem. Once there, I started exploring and came across OkuTrade, one of the main protocols on Lens Chain. I gave it a try and was impressed with how intuitive it was, especially for an early-stage platform.
That said, just because everything worked for me doesn’t mean there aren’t risks. Bridging assets always involves interacting with smart contracts that may have undiscovered vulnerabilities. Plus, Lens Chain itself is still in its infancy — there’s no guarantee it will gain traction or deliver on potential airdrops.
If you’re curious about experimenting with gasless trading or want to explore Lens Chain for yourself, go ahead — but do your research first, stay aware of the risks, and never invest more than you can afford to lose. It helped me test this whole process without burning through my ETH on gas fees.
