I roughly started my foray into the crypto world for real around late 2016.  While I had wanted to purchase BTC way back in the hay day when it was barely a dollar I had a friend at the time convince me otherwise and instead spend the money, to this day I won't let that friend off the hook for essentially convincing me not to make millions...we are still good friends though happy to say.

So while I started buying crypto in 2016, it wasn't until now I decided to research what type of blockchain games exist out there for me.  While there seems to be plethora of in development games or some pay to win games I was mainly interested in games that had a low barrier of entry, low time commitment and at least seemed to get people excited about.  I then stumbled across Alien Worlds.

The "Game":

For those who have never even tried or know what Alien Worlds is, if I had to essentially boil down the game right now for you.. it would be a click a button get crypto and nft game.  To be honest its a glorified slot machine or wheel of fortune right now.  So if any of you are looking for something that has more substance or polish this isn't the game for you.  However even though I basically dumbed down the game to a slot machine, this is actually really close to what I was looking for.  There are quite a few discord channels and guides out there that can help you get started but its really simple.  When you "mine" you get a chance to get an ingame NFT that you can use or sell for WAX, as well as getting a certain amount of its ingame currency TLM.  That's it from the average joe's perspective.  There used to be land sales where the land you are mining on is actually owned by another player, but those sales were at the beginning phase of the game and its near impossible for you to get one now, unless you spend a huge amount of cash on the marketplace.

The Potential:

While the current game really doesn't offer much its a way for all of us to dive deeper in the potential of block chain gaming and make some crypto while we're doing it.  There looks to be quite a few features that are upcoming and honestly the one that excites me is the Thunderdome, from what I've read it seems to be a PVP game built within Alien Worlds.  It sounds like a hunger games style where you can send some of the "unit" and "weapon" nfts you find in the game through mining to an Arena and have them all duke it out for a chance to win some prizes and ingame currency.  Not much is shown yet but I'm excited. 

Overall I'd say while not exactly a incredibly engaging game, it suits the exact needs I'm looking for which is something to occasionally look and click on and bit of slot machine euphoria to my busy work days.
