*No ability. No tricks. No gimmicks. Just 14 Power and a bad attitude. HULK SMASH.*

## The Big Green Machine

We’ve covered the genius (Iron Man), the god (Thor), and the master of magnetism (Magneto). Now it’s time for the one character in the Marvel universe who could arm-wrestle all three of them at once — and probably win.

Ladies and gentlemen, the **Incredible Hulk** is in the building. And he didn’t come to play games. Well, actually he did. But you know what I mean.

-----

## Who Is the Hulk?

**Dr. Robert Bruce Banner** was one of the greatest scientific minds of his generation — a brilliant physicist working on gamma radiation research for the U.S. military. During a fateful test of an experimental gamma bomb, Bruce rushed onto the test field to save a teenager named Rick Jones who had wandered into the blast zone. He got Rick to safety — but couldn’t get himself out in time.

The gamma radiation should have killed him. Instead, it unlocked something buried deep inside Bruce Banner: a being of pure, unbridled rage. When Bruce gets angry — truly, deeply angry — he transforms into the **Hulk**: a massive, virtually indestructible green giant with strength that scales literally with how angry he gets. The madder the Hulk, the stronger the Hulk. There is no upper limit.

### Two Sides of the Same Coin

The brilliance of the Hulk as a character is the duality at his core. Bruce Banner is soft-spoken, gentle, and deeply compassionate — a man haunted by what he becomes. The Hulk, in his classic form, is childlike and furious, with a hatred for being told what to do and a one-track mind pointed at destruction. They are the same person and yet could not be more different.

Over decades of comics, that relationship has evolved in fascinating ways. We’ve seen **Grey Hulk** (also known as Joe Fixit), a cynical, street-smart version who came out at night. We’ve seen **Professor Hulk**, a merged personality where Bruce’s intelligence and the Hulk’s strength coexisted in one body. We’ve seen the terrifying **Devil Hulk**, a cold and calculating persona. And we’ve seen **World Breaker Hulk** — the version of the Hulk so consumed by grief and rage after *Planet Hulk* and *World War Hulk* that he threatened to crack the Earth in half.

That *Planet Hulk* / *World War Hulk* storyline deserves special mention. Cast off into space by the Illuminati (a secret group that included Tony Stark and Reed Richards — yes, characters we’ve already covered!), Hulk landed on the alien planet Sakaar, became a gladiator, rose to become its king, found love, and built a life. Then his spaceship exploded, killing thousands including his pregnant wife. Hulk returned to Earth not as a hero — but as a **conqueror**, bent on revenge. It remains one of the greatest Hulk stories ever told.

### The MCU’s Big Green Guy

**Mark Ruffalo** has portrayed Bruce Banner / Hulk in the MCU since *The Avengers* (2012), taking over from Edward Norton. His version of the character has gone through one of the most interesting arcs in the franchise — from the reluctant monster who just wanted to be left alone, to the beloved **Smart Hulk** of *Avengers: Endgame*, where Bruce finally merged his two personalities into one. Ruffalo’s Hulk is warm, funny, and surprisingly endearing — a very different take from the classic rage machine of the comics, but one that has resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.

## Hulk in Marvel Snap — Pure, Simple, Devastating

Here’s where the Hulk’s Marvel Snap card perfectly mirrors the character: it doesn’t need anything fancy. It just shows up and dominates.

### 🃏 Card #1: Hulk (Original)

Hulk is a starter card that costs 6 energy and has 14 Power with no special effects — just raw, unstoppable Power. His in-game flavor text? **“HULK SMASH!”** That’s it. That’s the card.

No On Reveal. No Ongoing. No combo required. Just 14 Power sitting at a location daring your opponent to match it.

And here’s the thing — 14 Power at a single location is *enormous*. Most cards in the game top out at 10-12 Power for 6 Cost. Hulk blows past all of them with pure muscle. He is the definition of a “stat monster” — a card that doesn’t need synergy or setup because his raw numbers are simply too big to ignore.

His buff history reflects this too. In the September 20, 2022 patch, Hulk was buffed from 6-Cost/11-Power to 6-Cost/12-Power, with Second Dinner noting that many 5 and 6-Cost cards weren’t living up to their lofty energy costs. He was later buffed again to his current 14 Power — making him one of the highest raw power cards in the entire game for his cost.

### 🃏 Card #2: Hulk — Avengers

There’s also a second Hulk card — the **Hulk: Avengers** version. This version costs 6 energy, has 11 Power, and has an On Reveal ability: +2 Power for each other Avenger you have at this location.

This card is built for **Avengers synergy decks**. Stack the location with fellow Avengers — Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel — and the Hulk: Avengers version can grow well beyond his base 11 Power. Get four other Avengers there and he’s sitting at 19 Power. That’s an absolutely staggering number for a single card.

### 🃏 Card #3: Hulk — Evolved

And then there’s **Hulk: Evolved**. This version costs 6 energy, has 12 Power, and gains +2 Power at the End of Turn for each turn you have unspent Energy — whether he’s in your hand or in play.

This is the patient, calculated Hulk — the Professor Hulk of Marvel Snap, if you will. Save your energy across multiple turns, let Hulk: Evolved grow in your hand, and drop him late in the game as a supercharged finisher. The longer the game goes and the more energy you conserve, the bigger he gets. Pair him with cards like **Sunspot** (who also benefits from unspent energy) for a whole strategy built around holding back and striking hard at the end.

### 🃏 Card #4: Red Hulk

And we can’t talk Hulk without mentioning **Red Hulk** — General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, alias Red Hulk, a 6-Cost/10-Power Series 5 card whose End of Turn ability gives him +3 Power whenever your opponent has unspent Energy.

Where Hulk: Evolved rewards *you* for saving energy, Red Hulk punishes *your opponent* for doing the same. Drop him and watch your opponent sweat every time they don’t spend all their energy in a turn. He’s devious, he’s powerful, and he fits perfectly into a counter-control playstyle.

-----

## How to Play the Hulk Family Today

**Classic Hulk (Original)** — Drop him anywhere you need 14 raw Power on turn 6. Simple. Effective. Brutal. Works in almost any deck as a pure finisher. Pair with **Iron Man** at the same location for a doubled 28 Power swing that most opponents simply can’t answer.

**Hulk: Avengers** — Build an Avengers-themed deck with Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and other Avengers. Stack them at one location and finish with Hulk: Avengers for a massive power explosion.

**Hulk: Evolved** — Pair with **Sunspot** and other unspent energy synergies. Play conservatively, let Hulk grow in your hand turn by turn, and drop him as a late-game bomb that’s already been pumped up to enormous Power levels.

**Red Hulk** — Slot into control or tempo decks where you expect your opponent to hold energy in reserve. He punishes cautious play and rewards aggression.

-----

## The Verdict

The Hulk is proof that you don’t always need a complex ability to be great. Sometimes 14 Power and **“HULK SMASH!”** is all you need. He’s been a staple since day one as a starter card, and the expanded Hulk family — Avengers, Evolved, and Red Hulk — gives players multiple ways to experience the character’s many different personalities on the board.

Bruce Banner spent his whole life trying to control the Hulk. In Marvel Snap, you don’t have to. Just drop him and watch the chaos unfold. 💚
