Me and Crypto: The Story of About a Boy, Who Became a Man, Who Became a Bull

Me and Crypto: The Story of About a Boy, Who Became a Man, Who Became a Bull

This is my crypto journey. Feel free to humor me and read it. No harm if there's no interest. I don't even view it as particularly interesting. I figured I would share so my readers would know my experience (read what experience I have and don't have).

I will never try to bullshit anyone into something I don't believe in and this is basically cause for why my bs radar is good and why you can trust it (within reason obviously). If I shill you my shitcoins its because I think its worth the risk. But please don't be the guy that sues me because I forgot on one post to say this is not financial advice and to do your own research.

Bonus points to anyone who can guess where my title reference is from...and now...the grand opening...

My first exposure to crypto was about 2013. I was about 15 at the time and in high school. I was revisiting old computer games from my childhood including Runescape and Minecraft. I noticed some spammy ads on the side panels as I would peruse the internet and started seeing ads about the new replacement for gold, the fix to inflation.

As I did the research, I felt more and more comfortable understanding the dynamics of the cryptosphere and benefits of the technology.  I got involved in different aspects of the blockchain including mining, staking, faucets, and trading. I began buying coins I "trusted" more than others. Thankfully I never got involved in scams like Bitconnect (iykyk). I did put money into rather sketchy gambling sites that never got approved in the US and had high withdrawal limits that made you bet significantly higher amounts than what was deposited and gifted as a welcome bonus (looking at you Bovada).

As the market went up and down, I would pull money to support me, my education, and drinking habits back in college. I wish I could say I have a large nest egg but it was really more like pulling a hundred here or there to stay on top of bills. If only I could have gone back and warned myself to ride out the highs and keep putting money in rather than take it out.

There have been moments where I have been very active and moments that I have stayed clear of the space but truthfully I do believe in Web3.0 and how crypto will play a major part in it.

I believe the gaming community is missing an opportunity to create crypto generating games through real virtual markets and create demand for players in a space where many are already familiar with in game stores but new to crypto. I do think this is a way to entertain and educate more people in what crypto can do.

P.S. I came back to this article years after starting it and well, I guess today is the day I finish.

*Hint the title is inspired by the movie Brother Bear
