About tastes there is nothing written. It is a set phrase and, like everything that is repeated without stopping to hesitate a bit, as such it is a fallacious statement and NOT innocent. The market (capitalism, the stupid desire for permanent consumption, etc.) needs 'our' tastes.
Only our tastes are not ours, they do not come from 'inside' but from outside. Everything we like is designed in such a way as to make us feel that we are free in that flavor. The reality is that no, nothing we like is our free decision. And the Advertising Geniuses know it.
And they exploit it. I even dare to suppose that what we believe we love is also the result of a transparent but tenacious game of the Market.
All books, recipes, music, love and what we hate speak about tastes. We defend an Idea or an Ideology that is there to please us. There is nothing outside of Taste. The structural savors us from the second zero of life to the last blink.
Freedom is the best achieved illusion of the Market. Not to mention about the Collectives and Social Movements: thousands and thousands and thousands of people believing they are changing the world.
When all they are doing is faithfully and obediently following what the social language invisibly dictates.
Everything is written about tastes. And it is enough to throw the stone for others to take it, believing that this stone is just what they were thinking. And not. Because nothing gregarious is thinking.
