Fascisms are fundamentally characterized by two elements: assuming the truth and closing the other. The fascists - who recognize each other with armbands or handkerchiefs, with chants and by the use of a particular language - do not debate because they are simply irrational fanatics.
The other is not an Other, there is no Otherness for the fascist. There are plain and simple enemies. The enemy is not heard. He writes it down, insults it, demonizes it.
Why do we take so long to recognize fascism? Because they advance little by little, with apparently benign slogans and because the human being is -many times- a gregarious animal that seeks to belong to a vanguard.
No fanaticism is fair. Because justice doesn't matter. The leader is interested. That he can be a Boss, a party, an ideology. Fascism can wear the least suspicious clothes. That way he survives.
But human history shows that all fascism falls. Sooner or later it falls.
