St. Georges church in Luková Czech Republic is the one place you are guaranteed to capture pictures of ghostly figures. This church reportedly suffered multiple accidents and fires throughout the years since being built in the 14th century. The final straw for this church was in 1968 when the roof collapsed during a funeral. This omen was enough for the locals to refuse to enter the building, holding mass outside and effectively leaving the place abandoned.
Over the years vandals and thieves ransacked the place, taking anything of value and leaving their mark in the form of spray paint and other vandalism.
Although slated to be rebuilt at one point, lack of funding made this impossible and the project was abandoned.
In 2012, an art student received permission to use the church for an installation. He filled the pews with multiple ghostly plaster figures which still reside in the church today. Tourists from around the world are drawn to the macabre site. Largely thanks to donors attracted to the eerie sight, the church received a new roof in 2017 and is reportedly used for mass on St. Georges day.
