What does Liberalism say about ABORTION?

The fetus is not an agent with the capacity to develop plans on its own or to make decisions. Rights depend on an individual's ability to act. If this individual cannot act then we could say that they have no rights. Bearing this in mind, aborting the fetus would be something legal according to liberal principles since no one would be taking away their rights. However, this is not the only position that liberalism defends on abortion. Liberalism may also be against abortion, since, if we take into account that the fetus, despite not being able to act on its own at the time of being in the womb, could do so in the future, and therefore may Act for yourself and develop life plans, we can say that, even if you cannot act for yourself right now, it does not mean that you do not have rights. There is also a third position. The fact that the parents have caused the existence of the fetus makes it have to depend on its parents to be able to act on its own in the future.

Therefore, liberalism is compatible with both positions.
