CoinCasso is a new hybrid exchange based in Estonia, Europe, which is currently in development and nearing its initial open beta launch which is expected in May 2019.
The exchange will feature margin trading (when traders can borrow money to place long or short trades to increase their profit and losses) and will have its own dedicated mobile app. It will support trading against fiat pairs in addition to cryptocurrencies, will have 9 orders types to choose between when making a trade, and will support ICO (initial coin offering) and STO (security token offering) sales from trusted providers.
In addition to the exchange the CoinCasso group is also building out a network of Bitcoin ATM (or BTM) machines. Profits from the exchange and BTM network will be shared with holders of the projects CCX token. In total up to 80% of profits will be shared with token holders.
CCX tokens can be purchase in the project’s ICO. Tokens can be purchased using Bitcoin, Ether or Litecoin and a pot of 80 million have been made available for purchase during this sale This 80 million tokens represents 80% of the total supply.
But what is a hybrid exchange anyway?
Hybrid cryptocurrency exchanges aim to combine the best elements of centralized and decentralized exchanges. Typically decentralized exchanges have much better security as you do not need to trust somebody else to hold on to your tokens for you, but they can be much slower to make trades on and in some cases the fees can be higher. A centralized exchange has a much faster process for matching trades, and can also offer addition order types and loans for margin trading which is essential for many traders wishing to maximise their profits.
CoinCasso employs a multi-level architecture designed to take the best aspects of each type of system. It is essentially a partially decentralized exchange which seeks to replicated the security benefits of decentralization but without the drawbacks of a fully decentralized exchange.
My Thoughts
This project is joining an increasingly crowded and very competitive market, and there are many exchanges which are already struggling. They do, however, have a good case to make if they can deliver on their promises. The inclusion of a mobile app from early on is a great addition, because many exchanges lack this feature and that makes it very difficult for many people to keep up with the action and make or close trades while still going about their busy lives.
The profit share feature is obviously nice for any investor who believes that this exchange project will be successful, and the addition to the Bitcoin ATM network within this makes it even more appealing. But of course I would advise anybody who is interested in this to take a close look at the expected valuation and to consider the full risks and probabilities of whether this project will really be successful and generate significant profits.
Other Features
Addition features mention on the website but not mentioned so far include an payment gateway which is being developed for businesses wishing to accept crypto payments and a European exchange license to ensure that they are complying with all relevant legislation.
