Paradise Lost - pioneers of death doom and gothic metal

When I think about my journey with metal as music genre I can't think about it without coming across a single thought connected with Paradise Lost. This band is present in music industry since 1988! To say that it's unusual among other bands that are active today is quite a underestimation. They put up 15 albums - the number itself is impressive but if you take into account the fact that they are quite often playing live shows with only small breaks during album releases. But today I want to talk about their newest song which is promoting their new album (Obsidian) - Fall from Grace

Right here you can give song a go

Right after first seconds you can hear familiar sounds that are almost iconic for early albums of Paradise Lost - very advanced drums, Nick Holmes with his growl (which is amazing if you compare it with his vocal performance a few years ago) and strong, heavy, full of passion guitar chords. But after a brief moment earlier mentioned vocalist begins next lines with his outstanding clear voice. When you analyze the song more and catch more tidbits which is very enjoying.

But the main thing for me is the fact, that this song is a well thought combination of Paradise Lost best songs from almost every era of the band. For example, try listening to Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us - the similarity in guitar and vocal progression is uncanny.

In summary I think that the newest song of Paradise Lost is a great announcement of the newest album and it can only spark hope for more amazing songs when the album releases (15.05.2020).
