Water: the true wealth!

We value it much more when we feel the lack!

These days something has been happening here in my city that hasn't happened in many years. I'm talking about the lack of running water. I don't want to get into the political side of the story here because I wouldn't know how to explain it, but one thing is certain: life without water is impossible. Not long ago we didn't care about the time spent in the shower, of course we never overdid it, always with our bottles of cold water to ease the February heat in Brazil, it was a natural routine after all there was always water, until the fateful day when I got home from work and there was no water for anything! Would it have been weeks without water? No, just two days, clothes and dishes piled up to wash and we had to buy a 12-pack of mineral water.

For people from less developed countries who do not have access to piped drinking water, this sounds like a lot of blah blah blah, because just two days without water would be enough to even write this text, yes I know, but there are also many other people who have never been without a drop of water in their entire lives...

I remember that about 10 years ago here in this same place there would be a water shortage every now and then, but 10 years is enough for us to fall into the routine and forget that this can happen: The water can run out at any moment, and what if by chance it no longer flows through the PVC pipes embedded in the walls towards the street?

I ran to check if the water bills had been properly paid, yes they had, I searched the internet to see if I could find any news about the water shortage that was occurring in my area and found absolutely nothing. That was when my brother said that the water shortage on the second day had been announced.

Now the water is slowly running through the pipes again, but I don't forget that I may no longer have my bottle of cold water to drink at night.

The reserve water tank we have is 500 liters, we don't have a cistern, but after this happened I plan to make a cistern or a support for a larger water tank.

I just wanted to share this because I only realized the importance of taking care of water when I ran out of it, that's it, stay hydrated and long live WATER!
