Dear teachers,
Spelling Bee fever is upon us.
This Monday, the English department organised the Semi-finals. First, we were heartened that all Y3-4 participants spelt “resilient” correctly. That is the word that Ms Diana thought that students should learn how to spell. Click on her video to find out why.
Additionally, since variety is the spice of life, we conducted Round 2 of the Semi-finals innovatively. We wanted each team to “arrow” their peers and keep one another on their toes. So, each team took turns to choose a word from last year’s list and get another team to spell it.
Despite being put under stress, our students stayed calm to spell their assigned word. We could see some of them mouthing it to themselves and spelling it, one syllable at a time. We were happy to see them apply the spelling methods we had taught them during English lessons.
The finals will be held from 8.15-9.15am next Wednesday at the MPH. Thank you for your support!

The English Department organises the Spelling Bee every year because we want to provide a platform for students to apply the spelling methods we teach them in the classroom.
These students will represent their classes during the finals next week. They have employed their collaborative skills to beat their peers to come this far. Here are the details about the finals:
Date: 27 September (Wednesday)
Time: 8.15-9.15am
Venue: Hall
We thank you for giving up your period from 8.45-9.15am so that the participants could have the time to showcase their range of spelling skills to the school. We also have a surprise item lined up then, so stay tuned for it!
