I have no idea why my previous article on opinion matching netted 30 cents. I mean, this is more than what some of my crypto-themed articles earned! But I guess I shouldn’t guess why Lady Luck decided to cast her light on me - not when I needed to churn out another two such exercises this weekend. (Yes, sometimes teachers have no choice but to work on weekends.) Though if you ask me, I am having so much fun writing these opinion pieces that it doesn’t feel too much like work! 

The following exercise is about how Year 1 junior high school students feel about joining a co-curricular activity in secondary school. Joining a CCA is mandatory in my country. 

Speaker 1

I didn’t join any co-curricular activities in primary school, so I wasn’t sure whether I would grow accustomed to my CCA in NorthLight School. This was especially so when we had to stay back after school from 3-5pm on Thursdays! However, I found it easy to fit in. My seniors are so friendly and eager to help us with our problems. My batch mates are warm and kind, so it’s nice to make friends outside my class. Now, I look forward to Thursday afternoons!

Speaker 2

I was an active member of my CCA in primary school, so I am delighted to join the same CCA at NorthLight and improve my skills. I also love networking with people who are similarly passionate about my CCA. Every week, we discuss excitedly about our skills and share tips with one another about how to enhance our ability. Some people find it a pain to attend CCA sessions after school, but frankly, I have such a blast each time that I want to have more CCA sessions!

Speaker 3

I was from a non-sport CCA in primary school, so my form teacher asked me why I joined a sport CCA in NorthLight. I’m not exactly sure, but I just want to go out of my comfort zone and try new things. True enough, I struggled at first. It was tiring having to do physical exercises. I wanted to give up, but my friends encouraged me to persevere. Slowly but surely, my fitness level improved. I am proud to say that I am now as fit as a fiddle.

Speaker 4

I drag my feet to CCA every Thursday. I dislike it when I’m forced to do something against my will. People say that you learn fun things from your CCA - but I beg to differ. Seniors barking orders, teachers enforcing so many rules, no one caring enough to engage me. The list goes on. I just wish someone could put himself in my shoes and get to know me as a person rather than as a name on the attendance list. A little empathy never killed anyone!
