Magic School AI has a writing feedback feature, so I thought I would try it out.

Before I use it on my students’ writing, I wanted to see the relevance and sharpness of the feedback generated by Magic School, so what better way to do so than to input my own writing?

First, I inputted the creative writing rubrics from Rcampus.

Next, I pasted my work.

I would say that Magic School is rather good because the feedback it gives me matches my intentionality regarding this piece. Yes, I thought I had an attention-grabbing opening and intriguing word choices.

The areas of growth also match my current understanding of my weaknesses. I teach my students to draw a link between their conclusion and their introduction, but I sometimes fail to do so myself. I think I need to enhance my writing stamina so that I can end my pieces with a flourish rather than a whimper.

I quite like the general feedback too. It reminds me of how I wasn’t taught to put a comma before conjunctions in school. I mean, I only remember my teachers teaching us to put a comma before coordinating conjunctions like so. It was only recently that I realised that some people are particular about putting a comma before their ands and buts. I try to follow suit, but old habits die hard.

Honestly, I’m quite motivated to write more so that I can use the Writing Feedback feature more often to polish my raw writing into sparkling literary works of art.
