These two books caught my eye because they depicted how the fourth graders of an elementary school leveraged the powers of Locker 37, a magical locker, to solve the problems they encountered. The first book showcased a magic eraser that enabled the main character to literally erase the source of his troubles away whereas the second book unravelled how a clock enabled the protagonist to travel back in time to complete her Science homework.

They were captivating page-turners that kept me hooked and entertained. I enjoyed reading how these novel items actually ironically caused the characters to land themselves in unforeseen misadventures.
I particularly enjoyed the way the author interspersed the story with chapters detailing scientific stuff in an irreverent way. Topics such as Madagascar hissing cockroaches, the problems of time travel, and the tedious way to figure out the combination lock or Locker 37 were discussed at great length in a humorous way. I think they elevated the readability of the books.
Vocab-wise, I took a mental note of words, including shenanigans and conundrums, which might or might not be useful in helping my students prep for their upcoming exam. I can only do my best and leave the rest to God’s will.
