As part of the semestral assessments, I had to conduct a speaking assessment for my students. To my horror, I realised that many of them lacked the basic vocabulary to give a decent answer. There were also the better students who resorted to stock phrases in their responses. So, I methodically compiled a list of vocabulary words to level up their speaking skills.
I was then compelled to make the following image for them so that they would at least use the Level One vocabulary.
The BCCI looks a bit out of place here. When I taught Pri 4 Science at the primary school, I used to make my class copy this string of letters every single lesson: BBCCFGM. This was to help them remember the 7 animals they needed to know for PSLE: beetle, butterfly, cockroach, chicken, frog, grasshopper, mosquito. So, I believe that if I get 4HS1 students to write BCCI every lesson, they would remember the associated vocabulary and use them for their speaking assessment.

Actually, I don't know if my students would really take these delicious words and phrases to heart. But I sure had fun thinking deeply about how to come up with suitable vocabulary for each of my three categories. I'm an ardent word lover!
