As an ex-Science teacher, I was captivated by the cool educational materials displayed on the walls of the newly opened Bird Paradise. In Singapore, young minds learn Science when they are in the third grade. One of the earliest topics they grapple with is Animals. Specifically, MR FIBA (Mammals, Reptiles, Fish, Insects, Birds, Amphibians). The Bird Paradise, thus, serves as a great opportunity for them to learn outside their classroom and complement their learning. These two images explain about the defining characteristics of birds. Exposed surface area is a major theme that spans many topics, and I spotted one example of surface area. Adaptations is a major topic that students learn in Primary Six. They will be enlightened by these information panels on the adaptations of penguins. Not in the Science curriculum but I thought the example of the Baya Weaver male bird making a nest to attract potential mates is such a profound example of Proof of Work. 500 trips?! This was taken because my students have trouble remembering the meaning of aromatic. Yes, pay Bird Paradise sometime and feed our tourism industry!
