Bedtime Story #2

“Clean up your room now!” I said in exasperation. My children’s toys were *strewn / scattered* all over the playroom, and the incorrigible mess was getting on my nerves. Unfortunately, both of them *turned a blind eye to / ignored* my instruction. They were engrossed in their favourite program, *oblivious (unknowing)* to my frustration. I had no choice but to give them direct instructions on what to do. It took all my patience, but they gradually got into the swing of things. In the end, the playroom was not spick and span, but some *progress* was at least made. I felt on top of the world. I felt gratified that I had not yelled at them at the *expense / cost* of our relationship.
