Today, my lesson was a deep dive on the word “hesitated”. It was a culmination of many things. One student had started her sentence with “Without hesitation” for her end-of-year compo. I came across a list of phrasal verbs and spotted “held back”, which can be synonymous for “hesitated”. The vocab question for their final year paper tested their understanding of a synonym of “hesitation”, which was incidentally poorly attempted by most students. (The answer was “uncertain” btw.)

It felt good to pull in all these insights from various sources and consolidate them at one place. Hopefully, more than one student would remember to start their sentence with “Without hesitation” for their next exam
