10 Things I Did As A Teacher

The half-annual work review session is around the corner. I typically don’t like such sessions because I feel that my good work should speak for itself. When we state the things we do for our students and the impact these actions create, we can’t help but embellish these work accomplishments slightly because the work review is inextricably linked to our performance bonus. I confess that posting my work review here makes me feel slightly better because regardless of whether I get promoted next year, I will earn some petty cents here. LOL.

Accomplished educator with over 15 years’ experience in teaching at local and overseas institutions

  1. Developed and executed Differentiated Instruction lesson that appealed to their interests.
  2. Liaised with subject teachers to implement reward system aimed to motivate students to be on their best behaviour.
  3. Served as Normal Technical English Oral Examiner for five days and shared insights on exam questions and candidates’ responses with Head of Development.
  4. Liaised with Sg Learning Designers Circle staff for the #SgLDCPK initiative and presented how to use Quizlet to facilitate spaced repetition, PechaKucha style.
  5. Joined a Practice Circle on Differentiated Instruction (DI) and acquired insights on how to design DI unit plans tailored to NorthLight students’ needs.
  6. As level coordinator, created Term 3 Unit 3 grammar notes, 1 vocab, 1 grammar and 2 reading quizzes to boost student learning. Also anchored setting of Y3 End-of-Year Exam Paper.
  7. As organiser of the Spelling Bee, submitted proposal for MOE ExcelFest 2023. Ensured that the four rounds proceeded without a hitch. Came up with teachers’ reports and PPT slides to consolidate student learning.
  8. As Literacy Coach, conducted weekly lessons aimed to boost the proficiency of five students. Also compiled lists of words that highlight various suffixes which dovetail their English learning and vocational learning.
  9. As ICT champion, conceptualised outlines for the schoolwide Spark An Interest in Learning (S.A.I.L) initiative and formulated Student Learning Space (SLS) groups that chose to learn sign language.
  10. Delivered schoolwide presentation on Formative Assessment. Also conducted micro lesson to illustrate how the Jigsaw technique could be employed as a FA tool.
