I have been crafting as long as I can remember, and my interest began with sewing and has grown to include jewelry making, 3D (FDM) printing as well as resin printing and casting resin as well. This blog will highlight different crafts, projects, and will include a few tutorials and news from the crafting world as well. 

What's With "DawnOctopus"?

To begin with, you might be curious about the name "DawnOctopus". The explanation is simple - my name is Dawn, and octopus are my favorite animals. I also love the thought of a crafty octopus using all 8 tentacles to do different crafts at the same time. It's silly, sure, but it fits my personal aesthetic. 

Sewing Experience

I don't claim to be an expert on sewing (or anything, really!) but it's the craft that I have been doing the longest, other than drawing, coloring, and...gluing things onto other things. I have always been interested in sewing, even as a little kid. My mom always had a sewing room - and never let me in, so it was kind of a "forbidden fruit". So as soon as I had the opportunity in 9th grade to take a sewing class at my high school, I was the first to sign up. My most recent "fun" sewing story is all about Wonder Woman. I had a few Wonder Woman reusable masks in my shop, and the actress, Lynda Carter, who played the first Wonder Woman bought one! That was a pretty nice feeling - out of all of the WW masks on Etsy, she chose mine. Yay, me!
