Ann and Connor

Whisper of blood

By Ara writes | Dark line's | 20 Jul 2025

Leeara: Anna was born in a quiet village where everyone believed deeply in one thing: vampires.

The entire community was obsessed with tales of bloodthirsty creatures hiding in the shadows.

But Anna hated it.

She hated how blindly people clung to these ancient stories. She saw it all as foolish superstition—nothing more than myths to scare children.

While the villagers dreamed of seeing a real vampire just once in their lifetime, Anna only dreamed of leaving their ignorance behind.

But what happens...

when the girl who never believed, finds herself face to face with the truth?

What if Anna, the only one who denied their existence, becomes the one to walk into their world?

Anna

"So... where’s that white T-shirt?"

I had searched my entire closet, but I couldn’t find that one special shirt—my favorite.

The one Grandma gave me on my birthday before she passed away. I loved her so much...

I was still digging through my clothes when I heard my mom's voice from outside the door.

"Looking for this?"

I pulled my head out of the closet and turned toward her.

What...? She was holding the T-shirt. But it had red stains on it.

"Mom... why do you have my shirt? And... what’s that red stuff on it? Please don’t tell me that’s paint!"

She stared straight into my eyes—cold, serious.

"Vampires like red patterns... especially on white things. Things like blood."

My eyes widened in shock and confusion.

"Mom! What did you do??!"

She stepped closer and said calmly,

"Listen, sweetie. You're my daughter.

And you need to start believing in what we all believe... got it?"

Anna

I let out a deep sigh and stared sadly at the T-shirt in Mom’s hands.

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall.

I looked at her, heart heavy, and said,

"Of all the shirts... why that one? It was a memory. A piece of her."

Without waiting for a response, I left the room.

I’m strong. I really am.

But what do you expect...

when a girl gets mocked, judged, and called crazy by her own family—just because she thinks differently?

People want everyone to be like them. Same mindset. Same blind beliefs.

But not me.

I refuse to be part of that.

So, I went outside to clear my head.

To forget about that shirt.

The sun was shining and the air was warm—exactly what I needed.

But of course, not what the others wanted.

Why?

Because they believe vampires can't walk in sunlight.

How ridiculous is that?

 (Mom)

"That insolent girl... acting like I’m not her mother. Telling me what shirt I can or can't take? Please."

I take what I want. Always have.

I walked over to Elsa, my cousin’s daughter who’d just arrived from the city. She was eager to learn everything about vampires.

I sat across from her on the couch. She leaned forward with bright eyes and said,

"Oh my god, Billie! I’m obsessed with vampire novels. Are you seriously telling me they’re real?"

She spoke with such excitement—it was ridiculous.

I sighed. "Let me begin."

"As you probably guessed... yes, vampires are real. But unlike those romantic stories you read, the real ones are far more savage. They don’t believe in love."

I could see her shock, her curiosity growing.

"Right now, the vampire leader is said to be Connor Augusti—one of the most dangerous ever known."

"According to the Book of Vampire Myths, we all hope to catch even a glimpse of him... just his shadow would be enough. But sadly, that hasn’t happened yet."
